Forgive and Let Go of Bitterness

"Forgive and let go of bitterness"-

This is part of the daily mantra of our featured member of the Jugan clan who is Loilyn Jugan. I am inspired by her perseverance in life thus I am also sharing with you her life story so as to receive inspiration from her.

Loilyn and her family

Loilyn hails from Cebu City, one of the big and progressive cities in the Southern part of the Philippines. She is the eldest of four siblings. Her  siblings are Luisito, Loie Lyndon and the youngest, Loie Lyndie.

The siblings are all successful in their chosen fields and this give much happiness to their  parents. Being the eldest and a model to her younger brothers and sister, Loilyn performs the  role of Project Manager in one of Cebu's leading software company. The one next to her, Luisito Junior is now a successful nurse. Then Loie Lyndon is on the field of educatiojn- forming the minds and values of today's young generation. The youngest, Loie Lyndie is a Psychology graduate.

To give credit to where it is due, their proud parents are Luisito Jugan Sr. and Helen Jugan. They separated when Loilyn was on her studies 'sophomore year but this did not derail her from reaching her dreams. She shared that her greatest dream though is to travel all over the world.

While growing till now, she practices her mantra in life. Her mantra is " Forgiveness is a powerful tool when exercised. Forgiveness doesn't necessarily change the actions of the person who afflicted you, it changes and liberates you from the anger you once held. Stop holding grudges. Forgive and let go of bitterness. Forgiveness is a key to true happiness"

N.B.

Thanks a lot my niece, Loilyn,  for sharing your story with us all.

Go For Your Dreams

Go for your dreams- a guiding principle of Loilyn Bubbles Jugan, our contributor at this time. She's an outspoken and an achiever young girl. She owes her existence to God and to the two wonderful people in her life- her father Luisito Jugan Sr. and mom, Helen Jugan. Their family resides in Sitio Pilapilan in Yati, Liloan Cebu.

She has the following as her siblings:

1. Luisito Jugan  Jr.- a 26 years old who works as a trainer at Wipro Philippines. Like Bubbles, he also is dreamer who wants to be successful in everything he does. Apart from that, he also aspires a lot about financial stability.

2. Loie Lyndon Jugan- Bubbles' 19 year old brother who is currently a student of Normal University. His aspiration in life is to be a good educator someday.
Seeing the exemplary deeds of his teachers while he was still in his elementary and high school days, he is greatly inspired by them thus moulding this dream somebody to be one of them.

3. Loie Lyndie Jugan- a 17 year old student at La Consolacin College and whose aspiration is to be a successful individual in all her undertakings and also to land in an excellent job.

Meanwhile for Bubbles, as she is fondly called by loved ones and by friends, she is presently connected with the prestigious Lexmark Research and Development Corp. as its Deployment Project Coordinator. Being an achiever, this 30 year old lady is dreaming of experiencing skydiving one day. She could not help herself but be thrilled by this once in a lifetime experience.

She also believes in the importance of the family thus she dreams of having one of her own in the future. Her dream of a holiday place is Kenya or anywhere in South Africa. Furthermore, she wants to learn as many languages as she can and she shared her dream of building one day a beautiful home for her parents.

Thanks a lot Bubbles for sharing your life and family with our blog.

Being Selfless for Others

" Being selfless for others".....these are the wonderful words of Jake Bocado, member of our clan whom I will feature through this blog post. At his stage today, he has been to various challenges in life. Indeed, he is so grateful to all the examples of his parents, Rosanna Jugan Bocado and Ruel Bocado, for they raised him up as a loving and determined son. The following are his thoughts on my sharing with him:

a. In your stage now, what has been the greatest challenge that has come into your life?

Jake: In this stage of my life, being the breadwinner of the family has been my greatest challenge. Before, I thought that as I graduated in university, life would be easier. In reality, it is not. You have to consider a lot of things and you have to spend the money wisely. I become more selfless for my family.

b. How did you face the challenge?

Jake: I lessen my time for myself. I mean, I have to give up some of the things that I love to do. I have become more focus on my job as an ESL teacher and even have rendered more working hours to have enough income.

c. Who motivates you in your life?

Jake: The reason of all these things is my family. I am more motivated to see them happy. I am more motivated to see my sister who always does her best in order to finish her apprenticeship and earn a degree in college. Everything has become better when I see them like that.

Those were his thoughts and aside from that, here are some of his achievements:

- Licensed Professional Teacher
- Trainer at QQ English Philippines
- consistent class valedictorian
- Cebu Technological University (CTU) Cum Laude
- 2014 National PACSA Poster Making Champion
- 2016 Outstanding Teacher QQ English

Hence, all his relatives are so proud of all his deeds and aside from that, his examples are worth imitating most notably to the younger members of our family.

Being a Proud Father

Just recently, me and my wife received the result of the 1st Grading Test of our only child, Kurt Kristoff, and we were both delighted on his achievement at that early stage. Kurt now is 3 yrs. old and 6 months and he is enjoying his time in school. Comparing to my early days when I was at his age, I could not even remember what I did at that age.

But Kurt, seemingly enjoying the presence of the other kids in school, continues to be attentive on his time in school. At first, when his Lola Miguela shared with us that during their exams day, Kurt was the first one who submitted his test paper, I soundlessly told myself that maybe, he didn't have any more answers to the test.

Me and my wife were both amused by this but, when we heard the news from his proud Lola again yesterday about his performance, then I again silently told myself that Kurt is such a talented and intelligent kid. How I feel so proud of him and I know it goes the same with his mom, Yanyan. I think one of those treasured moments of being a dad and a parent is when our kids perform well in whatever endeavour they are in.

On the other hand, I constantly told myself and my wife that we will refrain from making any demands on our kid, Kurt, so that he will not be stressed from it. I reckon it is  but fitting for them to grow in an independent way and really chooses things which are of their standards.

By the way, he has 3 subjects for this grading and for the 2 (Math and Science), he received a perfect score while the remaining one, Language, he got 96. Congrats Kurt.....job well done!

Up Where We Belong: An Inspirational Song

To give us inspiration for the day, allow me to share with you one of my favourite songs entitled Up Where We Belong. The two famous artists for this song are Joe Cocker and the beautiful Jennifer Warnes. This has been a source of inspiration for me not only because of the mastery of these two artists but the lyrics of the song itself. Personally, they were so moving and to let you feel also how these lyrics could impact our lives, I am sharing some of them here with my own reflection:

" The road is long. There are mountains in our way. But we climb a step every day. "

No matter how challenging, what is of great consequence to us is that we are always willing to step forward regardless whether the road is rough and tough or the other way around. Learning to appreciate our daily events will allow us to grow more in a positive way.

" Love lift us up where we belong. Where the eagles cry on the mountains high."

If we know how to love and allow ourselves to be loved by others then we are putting and adding colours to our life. There are mountains, yes, they are in place everywhere but when we are able to climb them up then we can also see a much bigger picture of what is around us.

"Some hang on to used to be. Live their lives looking behind. All we have is here and now. All our life, out there to find."

Some may find their past so painful and struggle so much to forget them but in order for them to survive on this earth, they need to learn to embrace everything, both gain and pain, as part of life. Though I know that it is easy said than done but there is no other way to grow except to accept all chapters of our life.

To view the whole song, here is the link to that excellent song:

Hence, it is also my wish that you can find inspiration on this great love and inspirational song. Every in our life, we always need something to lighten up our load and share its blessings.
